I was so excited to find these on Amazon but ended up purchasing them from an educational store in my area to avoid shipping costs. After taking them home, I read the back of the package which warned “This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects and / or reproductive harm”. I am returning these Fiskars for tots (which were made in China) tomorrow. I do not think they are safe for any kids to be using particularly toddlers! I ended up purchasing other safety scissors made by Lakeshore which are all plastic and do not cut hair or clothes, but cuts paper great.

These scissors are the best! My 2 1/2 year old LOVES cutting paper, and these are safe, not too sharp, and don’t seem to cut much else besides paper (huge bonus!). Plus they are much easier for his little hands to squeeze than a standard pair.

Up until we got these scissors, my sons were two handed cutters. These scissors are so easy to operate one handed, my older boy was able to give himself his first self haircut. Thanks Fiskars. :D

I used these scissor in a toddler classroom and was amazed at how well and how quickly young children were able to learn to cut. I was very concerned to read a review that said there were California safety warnings on the package. I have just spoken with Fiskar customer service and learned why the warning was on the package and that it no longer is there. I just bought several pairs for my grandchild and I recommend them for any young child who is learning to cut.

A 2-3yr old will love these. They have a usable edge, but not sharp enough to do much damage on much besides paper.
